Hoboken's Shipyard Park wins landscape award

Real Estate Weekly, April 24, 2002

Shipyard Park, the new riverfront park within The Shipyard community on the northern end of Hoboken, has won a prestigious landscape architectural award.

The nearly one-acre, rectangular urban park received an Honor Award for Landscape Architectural Design at the recent Annual Meeting of the New Jersey Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects in Atlantic City.

The award was accepted by Tom Bauer, a principal of Melillo & Bauer Associates, the Point Pleasant Beach-based landscape architects who created the park for Applied Development Company, developer of the mixed-use Shipyard community.

"Receiving recognition for your work is always an honor," notes Tom Bauer, a principal in the architectural firm. "But when such tribute comes from colleagues in your profession, it is especially sweet."

Shipyard Park was designed to take advantage of the site's spectacular views of the Manhattan skyline and the ever-changing river scene.
