Richard Mortman forms new firm
Real Estate Weekly, August 21, 2002
Richard Mortman, a 41-year veteran in the boiler replacement, service and repair business, has returned from a one-year hiatus to once again offer his years of experience to the real estate industry in design-build and plan/spec installations, repairs, local law inspections and triennial DEP through his new firm, National Mechanical Services LLC.
He holds an "A" oil burner installer's license in New York City and is licensed in the State of Connecticut and numerous towns in Westchester County.
Mortman entered the field in 1961 as a service technician, and within seven years founded Progressive Combustion. In 1980, he formed R.D. Mortman Co., Inc., which specialized in burner service and boiler installations throughout the tri-state region.
It was in 1997, after deregulation was introduced to the New York market, that Keyspan purchased R.D. Mortman. Mortman was given a three-year contract, stayed on for an additional year, and then retired to travel, relax and enjoy the fruits of his labor.
Joining Mortman in this new venture is his brother Gary Mortman, general manager, and his son Jeff as director of sales. They will be serving the greater metropolitan area with an emergency service department, available 24/7, and an installation department to replace and install new equipment. The same customer care initiative, reliability and competence that has been synonymous with the Mortman name for nearly half a century will be carried forward with the new company and the next generation.
