Citi Habitats, Manhattan Mortgage plan to help homeless children

Real Estate Weekly, August 20, 2003

Citi Habitats, Inc. announced its partnership with Volunteers of America, one of the city's largest private providers of homeless services, for Operation Backpack. The week-long event, to take place August 18-22, calls upon the public to bring new or gently used backpacks to any Citi Habitats branch location. The backpacks will then be filled with donated school supplies and distributed to homeless children in the New York City family shelter system. Other major corporate sponsors include Manhattan Mortgage, American Express Corporate Services, Fed Ex, and Starbucks.

"We're proud to be a part of such a worthy cause, and we applaud the efforts of all of the companies involved in the project. Helping in the gathering and distribution of these backpacks is the least we could do to give back to the community," said Andrew Heiberger, president and chief executive officer of Citi Habitats.
