R Squared LLC to sponsor nation's premier horse show

Real Estate Weekly, Sept 1, 2004

R Squared LLC announced its commitment to the Long Island community as an official sponsor of the 29th Annual Hampton Classic Horse Show, one of the nation's premier show jumping competitions.

The event, which benefits the Southampton Hospital, is being held in Bridgehampton from Aug. 28th to Sept. 5th. Gregg Rechler, partner of R Squared LLC, made the announcement.

"Southampton Hospital is a vital institution on the east end of Long Island," Rechler noted. "We are honored to be a sponsor of an event that supports such an essential part of the Southampton area and the year-round residents it serves."

The Hampton Classic kicks-off with the second annual Wine Spectator's Long Island Wine Classic and concludes with the $150,000 Prudential Financial Grand Prix.

R Squared joins other important sponsors of the Hampton Classic, including Absolut Vodka, American Express, Bane of America Securities, Credit Suisse First Boston and David Yurman.

This is the third consecutive year Mr. Rechler has sponsored this important community event, but is the first with R Squared LLC, a real estate investment firm he co-founded with Mitchell Rechler. R-Squared owns and operates more than 7 million s/f of property throughout the New York metropolitan area.

"As life-long Long Island residents, Gregg and I are especially proud to be part of this important event," said Mitchell Rechler. "This promised to be an outstanding week of competition and special events to benefit this worthy cause."

The Hampton Classic finishes off with the $150,000 Prudential Financial Grand Prix and World Cup Qualifier, the $80,000 Eastern Finals of the Young Jumper Championships (five-, six- and seven-year old jumpers) and the $25,000 Calvin Klein Show Jumping Derby.

The Hampton Classic is one of the country's largest hunter/jumper horse shows.

With more than 1,300 exhibit horses and more than $500,000 in prize money, the Classic is not only a sporting event of major proportions, but also one of the most extravagant social events of the Hampton's summer season.
