New concept for Atlantic Ave

Real Estate Weekly, Sept 17, 2008

Grubb & Ellis Company announced that Aveda, which recently leased space for an upscale salon and retail store at 527 Atlantic Ave., in Brooklyn will launch its newest concept, The Sanctuary, with a grand opening on Thursday, Sept. 18.

The Sanctuary is the only one of its kind in the area offering full-service hair and nail care, make-up application, bridal services, and Aveda products.

The salon is also the anchor of the Atlantic Gardens Retail Community, an effort that commits to renting stylish, well-designed retail spaces to neighborhood businesses while preserving the authentic character of the community.

This innovative effort, currently completing construction, provides space for local businesses, proving that mom-and-pop stores can coexist with national retailers--and benefit.

Located within two blocks of the future Brooklyn Nets arena at Atlantic Yards, the community offers six separate addresses totaling approximately 6,300 s/f of retail space sitting beneath 23 residential units and a beautifully designed back garden to which all tenants have access.

"This area is perfect for this salon," said Andi Marie Jones, owner of The Sanctuary Salon.

"Like the products and services we offer, the locale is organic, community-oriented and conscious of its surroundings. Since spending a significant amount of time here, I am convinced that there is no place better, and I'm proud to be the first tenant in the Atlantic Gardens Retail Community.

"There is real potential for consumer growth and customer loyalty, as well as the ability to help a neighborhood flourish in this new economy while preserving its integrity."

Atlantic Assets, the owners and redevelopers of these properties, recognizes the changing face of downtown Brooklyn and are leading the transformation of these previously disregarded properties into a corridor that will mirror that of Sollo, while maintaining the neighborhood's flavor.

This location is ideal to complement the collection of high-end residential and retail buildings adjoining Brooklyn Heights and Cobble Hill. It is also just steps from the commuter-heavy Atlantic Terminal and Flatbush Avenue, and sits on the highly trafficked segment of Atlantic Avenue between Third and Fourth streets.
