POMALS technology puts listings at brokers' fingertips
Real Estate Weekly, May 7, 2003
Peace of Mind at Light Speed Inc., the leading provider of location-based software and services, announced the launch of the first-ever wireless application that gives commercial real estate professionals rapid access to property listings and related data on BlackBerry(tm) handheld devices.
Newmark & Company Real Estate, Inc., one of the largest independent full-service real estate firms in the United States, will be the first company to utilize this application using a "Powered by POMALS" BlackBerry(tm) with content provided by Yale Robbins' MrOfficeSpace.com.
"The commercial real estate market is fragmented and highly competitive, but with wireless access to this mission-critical data, professionals will be able to retrieve pertinent listing data on demand," stated Jeffrey Beri, chairman and co-founder of POMALS. "By being able to access premiere content from MrOfficeSpace.com, this application offers efficiencies of scale to brokers so that they can make immediate recommendations to give them an unprecedented advantage in what is a highly competitive marketplace."
Real estate professionals will be able to access critical information through POMALS's location-based service utilizing data from MrOfficeSpace.com. When the broker is with a client, he chooses the POMALS icon on the BlackBerry(tm) to access property details, including, rent/purchase price, average square footage, amenities, floor plans, management contacts, and other market statistics.
"Providing immediate access to critical listing and property information on wireless devices gives our real estate professionals access to information that has historically only been accessible through fixed-line Internet applications," said Newmark & Company principal William Cohen. "The 'Powered by POMALS' application has the functionality that our brokers need to gain a competitive edge. Now we'll be able to provide our clients with better service by instantly providing a full suite of information."
"I firmly believe that POMALS' technology is the next step for the real estate industry and are pleased to be working with the company," said Yale Robbins, president of MrOfficeSpace.com. "As one of the leading sources of commercial real estate information in New York, our suite of information gives brokers a competitive edge."
The second generation of the "Powered by POMALS(tm)" real estate application will have increased functionality, such as, but not limited to, photographs, location maps and virtual tours, delivered through multiple mobile media through GPS-based services that deliver essential data to users within the boundaries of their current location. Through location-aware services commercial real estate brokers will be able to move freely through their territory while accessing detailed information for properties within a two-block radius of their current location.
