Two major retailers enter suburban market

Two major retailers are entering the Suburban New York market for the first time. Both deals were brokered by Pam Bren of Goldschmidt & Associates.
The Container Store, with 20 stores nationally, will open its first New York area store on the corner of Bloomingdale Road and Westchester Avenue, White Plains across from Nordstrom. The 24,000 SF store is currently under construction and is adjacent to the ingress/egress of I-287.
The Container Store sells storage and organizational products for the home and office. They were selected by Fortune Magazine as the #1 company to work for in America for the year 2000. They were also selected by the National Retail Federation as the #1 independent retailer for the year 1999. The Container Store will be a welcome addition to White Plains and Westchester County.
Laytner's Linens & Home, the home furnishing chain, which serves New Yorkers with three locations in Manhattan, will open its first suburban store in 11,500 SF of the former Alex & Henry's space in the Vernon Hills Shopping Center, on Rt. 22, Scarsdale, New York. family owned merchants for two generations, Laytner's sells upscale linens, bath, furniture, and accessories for the home, with a decidedly New York City flavor. They are a long awaited addition to Westchester County. Representing the landlord was Jay Ross of Cushman & Wakefield.
Goldschmidt & Associates leases and sells retail, commercial and industrial real estate in the New York metropolitan area. Its offices are located in Scarsdale, New York.
