Former General Foods headquarters in Westchester repositioned

Real Estate Weekly, May 22, 2002

With help from famed architect Philip Johnson, Charles Steven Cohen of Cohen Brothers Realty Corporation has transformed the former General Foods headquarters here into a multi-tenant facility, making 333 Westchester Ave. one of the most elite business addresses in Westchester County.

Repositioning of the complex has included a change of address from the original 250 North St. to 333 Westchester Ave., allowing the facility to take its rightful place on Westchester's "Platinum Mile."

Philip Johnson was called into the project early on to redesign the entrances of the four buildings. Interiors were gutted and major improvements, such as new elevators, new lobbies and windows, and complete re-wiring, were undertaken to upgrade and transform the facility from single-tenant to multi-tenant use. With a total square footage of 632,000, Cohen Brothers Realty is now offering space from 2,500 to in excess of 461,000 contiguous SF.

Amenities at 333 Westchester Ave. include 2,000 reconfigured parking spaces, a stunning cafeteria and private dining rooms operated by Flik International, a conference center with meeting space for 200, plus a 15,000 SF fitness center with exercise machines and a half-basketball court.

The four main buildings are all interconnected and surround a large courtyard and gardens. The campus is one of Westchester's loveliest, graced by mature trees and plantings. Convenient to Westchester's fine transportation network, the site is an easy 40-minute drive into mid-town Manhattan, within minutes of Westchester County Airport and world-class shopping in downtown White Plains.

Among the first tenants to take space at 333 Westchester Ave. are MacSteel ASOMA, America Online, Nexus Computing Solutions, Fredman & Kosan, Rosenfeld and Tortu, and Allied Irish Bank. In addition to the building in White Plains, Cohen Brothers Realty Corporation currently owns over 8 million SF of prime Manhattan real estate, as well as major design centers in New York, Los Angeles and Houston.
