Real Estate Weekly, May 28, 2003
In a transaction which brings occupancy to over 90%, the world's largest natural and organic foods super market; Whole Foods Market; signed a lease to occupy 36,000 SF at The Source at White Plains, Westchester's most successful new retail development.
Whole Foods Market joins anchor tenant Fortunoff and popular restaurant Cheesecake Factory at The Source at White Plains, a 260,000-SF retail development located directly across the street from the Westchester Mall. The Source at White Plains, a development of R Squared EDGE in partnership with Fortunoff, will open in September 2003 with ribbon-cuttings for the new 180,000-SF Fortunoff store and 12,000-SF Cheesecake Factory. Whole Foods Market will open at The Source at White Plains in spring of 2004.
Patrick Smith of The Staubach Company represented Whole Foods Market in this transaction. "We are delighted to welcome Whole Foods Market to The Source at White Plains, and appreciate this retailer's interest in joining Fortunoff in serving the dense and affluent neighboring communities," said Edward Gellert, managing member of developer R Squared EDGE.
Currently, 25,000 SF of space remain available at The Source at White Plains. Ground was broken for the development last spring and demand for space in The Source at White Plains has been high.
