Insignia leases space at Mad Ave Tower 49

First Union Corporation has signed a 15 year lease for 76,250 square feet at Tower 49 in a transaction arranged by Insignia/ESG's Elliott Ingerman and John Powers.
The Charlotte, N.C.-based financial services company will consolidate several new and existing business units into the new offices at the 600,000 square-foot building. First Union will occupy five floors in the 45-story tower, located at 12 East 49th Street just off Madison Avenue.
Messrs. Ingerman and Powers represented First Union in the transaction, along with attorney Michael B. Kupin of Camhy Karlinsky & Stein LLP. The landlord, Kato International LLC, was represented by Robert Bakst, Alan Goldberg and Yasuo (Alan) Nishii of Chesapeake Realty Advisors, LLC , along with attorney Peter Figdor of Salans Hertzfeld Heilbronn Christy & Viener.
