Three projects built by Sordoni Skanska win 2002 good neighbor awards

Real Estate Weekly, June 5, 2002

Three projects built by construction manager Sordoni Skanska have been selected as 2002 New Good Neighbor Award winners -- the Asbury Park State office building, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation headquarters in Princeton, N.J., and the Givaudan Fragrances Corporation manufacturing and distribution facility in Mount Olive, NJ.

The New Good Neighbor Award competition is sponsored annually by the New Jersey Business & Industry Association. The program recognizes new developments in the state of New Jersey that provide an economic impact and job creation, demonstrate community involvement, and have architectural merit.

Built for the New Jersey Economic Development Authority, the Asbury Park State office building is a 45,000-SF facility. The building houses several state agencies, including the Department of Human Services, the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs; and the Department of Treasury. The project also included renovation of a five-story parking garage.

Sordoni Skanska's expansion and renovation of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation headquarters consisted of a new 110,000-SF addition to the existing 70,000-SF building via a two-story atrium. Included in the facility is office space to house the foundation's entire program and support staff, a new 102-seat amphitheater, food service facilities, expanded conference facilities, a library, a fitness center, and state-of-the-art data center, all serviced by a new central utilities plant.

For Givaudan, Sordoni Skanska provided design-build services for a fast-track "best in class" fragrance manufacturing and distribution center. The largest project ever undertaken by Givaudan, the new facility produces fragrance oils and compounds for the company's North American markets. The multi-use, 180,000-SF building complex houses plant offices and laboratories, production areas, shipping and receiving areas, and warehouse space.
