Outing to benefit Mary Lyons Foundation
Real Estate Weekly, June 7, 2000
New York's leading corporate real estate executives will reach for their mashies and racquets at the IDRC/NACORE Sixth Annual Golf & Tennis Outing to benefit the Marty Lyons Foundation, the Student/Sponsor Partnership and the Institute for Student Achievement. The outing will be in full swing July 17 at the Ridgeway Country Club and Westchester Hills Country Club in White Plains, N.Y., where more than 300 business leaders are expected.
The IDRC/NACORE Annual Golf and Tennis Outing also draws corporate sponsors. Last year, the outing raised more than $42,000. This year, the committee hopes to surpass that achievement.
"Since the event's inception in 1995, we have seen a tremendous increase in support from the corporate real estate community," said Bob Koncelik, Jr., Golf & Tennis Committee Co-Chair. "The golf classic is our way to have fun for a worthy cause."
According to event Co-Chair Jeff Elie, "The foursomes sell out every year. The un-sung opportunities are in the corporate sponsorships, which enable businesses to not only generate tremendous good-will among their peers and important contacts, but contribute to three very vital causes."
The Marty Lyons Foundation provides special wishes to children diagnosed with a terminal or chronic life threatening illness. Founded in 1982, the Foundation has grown to 10 chapters in New York, New Jersey, Florida, South Carolina and Massachusetts.
The Student/Sponsor Partnership seeks to provide disadvantaged students with a chance to receive a quality high school education. Now in its thirteenth year, the program, with corporate support, has grown from serving 45 students to more than 1,300 students.
The Institute for Special Achievement's mission is to improve the quality of education for children and youth at risk. The Institute for Special Achievement began in 1990 by helping a small group of students who were in the lowest performing quartile of their class in one school in Roosevelt, N.Y.. In nine years, it has grown to help nearly 2,000 teenagers in six school districts throughout New York State.
