Brooklyn Building Awards

At the recently held Building Brooklyn Awards, the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce honored 10 recent construction projects in the borough that have made significant contributions toward enhancing Brooklyn's business conditions and economic climate.

The winning projects, which have been divided into nine categories ranging from affordable housing to education, represent more than $480 million in investments.

According to Kenneth Adams, president of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, "These projects represent a significant investment not only in the infrastructure and real estate of this borough, but in the people of Brooklyn. The Building Brooklyn Awards are a way to recognize and show our gratitude to the individuals and organizations who continue to build their dreams in Brooklyn."

The winners of the Building Brooklyn 2002 Awards include the Mark Morris Dance Center in the civic/non-profit category, the Oceana condominiums in multi-family, the Habitat for Humanity Hart Street Houses in affordable housing, 470 Vanderbilt in office buildings, the Visiting Nurse Association of Brooklyn in office interiors, 331 Myrtle Ave. in retail, Sahadi Fine Foods in industrial, KeySpan Park in public works/parks, and the Good Shepherd Services Center in education. In addition, the Maple Street School received honorable mention.
