Brown Harris Stevens
Real Estate Weekly, June 21, 2000
Brown Harris Stevens, New York's premier full service real estate firm, announced their appointment as onsite selling agent for The Bank located at 77 Eighth Ave., which, when fully renovated, will house 11 luxury condominium loft units. The apartments are being fashioned from space that originally housed a savings bank built in 1907 and operated as a commercial bank until 1996. The Brown Harris Stevens' on-site division is overseeing sales and marketing in this unique early twentieth century structure.
The Bank is located on the corner of Eighth Avenue and 14th Street, which borders the West Village and Chelsea. Galleries and trendy shops have been migrating to the area just west of the property, which houses Manhattan's meat- packing district.
Loft units in the building range in size from 1,532 to 3,034 gross square feet. Prices start at $585,000 and range up to $1,975,000 for the building's crown jewel, a fifth story penthouse with roof garden. Most units will either have a balcony or garden, with double height ceilings in some units.
In keeping with emerging technology, each unit will have high speed Internet and multimedia access and the latest security in the form of a cardkey access system. Additionally, all units will have their own individually controlled heating and cooling systems.
