Real Estate Weekly, July 2, 2003

The North Face[R], a premier supplier of authentic, innovative and technically advanced outdoor apparel, equipment and footwear, has opened its first New York City store at the Ansonia, the Beaux Arts landmark condominium at 2101 Broadway at 73rd Street, in the heart of Manhattan's Upper West Side.

The new store, which occupies 8,000 SF of space on the Ansonia's southeast corner, expands on The North Face[R]'s new retail concept, designed to personify the brand and celebrate its outdoor exploration heritage, inspiring consumers to Never Stop Exploring[TM]. This will be the company's seventh, full-price retail store nationwide. Its other stores are located in Beverly Hills, CA, San Francisco, CA, Palo Alto, CA, Seattle, WA, Chicago, IL, and Boulder, CO.

Jim Downey, of Cushman & Wakefield, represented The North Face[R] in the 10-year leasing transaction, and Herbert Krasnow of Ansonia Associates L.P. and Andrew Goldberg of Insignia/ES Gordon represented the Ansonia.

"We're delighted the Ansonia is home to the New York showcase for this prestigious retailer," said Krasnow. "The Ansonia's grand architecture complements the store's decor, and we believe this is a wonderful addition to the neighborhood and the southeast comer of Broadway and 73rd Street, an important retail location."

"New York City is the premier shopping location in the world and our presence here represents a significant step in building our brand," explains Mike Egeck, president. The North Face[R].
