EHS plans $3.1m dorm renovation

Real Estate Weekly, July 7, 2004

Educational Housing Services (EHS) announced a $3.1 million renovation of its student residences in Manhattan and Brooklyn.

The renovations will be completed in time for the start of the 2004 fall semester.

"This comprehensive program to upgrade our facilities demonstrates our ongoing commitment to improving the quality of life for the over 4,000 students that utilize our residences annually," noted George Scott, President and CEO of EHS.

"As always, we continue to offer students a safe and comfortable environment where they can realize their full potential, while giving their parents much appreciated peace of mind regarding their children's living arrangements in New York City."

Planned capital improvements to include painting, carpeting, new furniture, creation of computer rooms and lounges, installation of high-speed internet and cable access to individual rooms, as well as a new security measure--optical turnstiles. Approximately 800,000 square feet of space will be renovated under the guidance of Vince Savatoriello, Director of Facilities at EHS.
