Fashion retailer moves to 8 West 57th Street store
Real Estate Weekly, August 28, 2002
Fashion retailer Club Monaco will soon have a major presence on one of New York's most upscale shopping thoroughfares. The trendy international designer has signed an 11,000-SF lease for a flagship at 8 W. 57th St., a property owned and managed by Solow Management Company.
Bradley Mendelson of Insignia/ESG's retail group negotiated the 15-year deal on behalf of Solow Management, while Robert Cohen of Robert K. Futterman & Associates represented Club Monaco.
"We're very pleased to welcome such a world-class retailer to 8 W. 57th St.," said Mendelson. "Club Monaco joins a number of new retailers on West 57th Street who have watched the Street evolve into one of the premier shopping streets in Manhattan."
Searching for the 'right' tenant, the ownership kept this former home of the "Festival Theatre" vacant for the past few years. The property is directly opposite 9 West 57th St. "With the increased demand for quality retail space on West 57th Street, close to Fifth Avenue, we are about to bring to market the newly redesigned retail space at the renowned 9 West 57th St.," said Mendelson. "The quality of the retail on this street will continue to improve and there is certainly sufficient traffic to support first rate retailers."
The retail component of the building features an impressive double-height glass facade. Club Monaco, which already operates six other stores in Manhattan, plans to open early next year. Its other locations are 1111 Third Avenue, 160 and 699 Fifth Avenue, 520 and 2376 Broadway, and 121 Prince Street, as well as 412 Evergreen Court in Woodbury, New York.
