Cosi moves to Garment District

Real Estate Weekly, August 28, 2002

The leasing team of Faith Hope Consolo and Joseph Aquino of Garrick-Aug Worldwide, Ltd., has arranged leasing for Cosi at 498 Seventh Ave., the south west corner of 37th Street, in the heart of the new Garment District.

The term of the lease for this Cosi, displaced from the World Trade Center, is for fifteen years for 2,000 SF. The space was previously occupied by Alkit. Cosi will be joining its neighbor, Washington Mutual Bank, at 498. WAMU was also a recent deal of the Garrick-Aug team.

"First, there was Cosi," says Faith Hope Consolo, vice chairman, "brought to America by brothers, Jay and Shep Wainwright from Paris.

Sandwiches made from fresh, exotic sandwich ingredients, served on Pizza Romano flat bread."

Joe Aquino, managing director, continues, "498 Seventh Ave. is an address that has long been synonymous with the Fashion Center, or Garment District. But, the Fashion Center is no longer a neighborhood limited to one industry. There has been an influx of many non-fashion related businesses. The "new Garment District", as it is now called, is home to office tenants such as Bates Worldwide Advertising, Interpublic Group, Hazen & Sawyer, Data Broadcasting, and Metastream, all located at 498 Seventh Ave., all, non-fashion."

The Garrick-Aug team exclusively represented the landlord.
