Developer Alfred N. Sanzari honored with dedication of Sanzari Medical Arts Building

Real Estate Weekly, August 27, 2003

To celebrate the Dedication of The Alfred N. Sanzari Medical Arts Building in Hackensack, New Jersey, the Sanzari family recently hosted a private gala reception. David Sanzari, President of Alfred Sanzari Enterprises, the owner and developer of the medical building, was Master of Ceremonies for the event, which honored his father, Alfred, the company's founder and chairman.

Selected in a bidding process by the City of Hackensack to redevelop an entire square block of Essex Street plagued by aging buildings, lack of parking, and limited potential for economic growth, Alfred Sanzari Enterprises supplanted four obsolete buildings with a state-of-the-art medical office building. Sanzari was chosen, from a total of seven developers, who submitted proposals for the redevelopment of Essex Street.

"Very few urban renewal projects end up with facilities actually within the urban corridor," says David Sanzari, president of Alfred Sanzari Enterprises. "As a lifelong resident of Hackensack, it was my father's vision to undertake projects that he felt would transform neighborhoods and positively affect the quality of life for residents and tenants. This new medical office building which bears his name is an important first step in what is hoped will be an ongoing and successful revitalization of the city of Hackensack."

Located directly across the street from Hackensack University Medical Center (HUMC), one of the leading teaching hospitals in the country, the Alfred N. Sanzari Medical Arts Building is fully leased. With an exterior of sleek granite and solar reflective glass, the building's design brings aesthetic appeal to the neighborhood. Onsite parking for 350 cars makes it a convenient destination for medical and retail services. The first level of 18,000 SF has been fully leased to a variety of retail tenants including Fleet Bank, Starbucks, Duane Reade, Cafe Policastro and Crystal Nails. The second, third, and fourth levels, comprising 66,000 SF, has been fully leased to HUMC.

"The Alfred N. Sanzari Medical Arts Building will enhance the community and honor a longtime resident who rose to achieve his dreams for the good of all," said David Sazari.
