Luxury condo planned Downtown by Philippe Starck

Real Estate Weekly, August 4, 2004

YOO is partnering with developer A.I.-Lev Leviev/ Boymelgreen to transform 15 Broad Street into 326 luxury condominiums.

The 40-storey tower across the street from the New York Stock Exchange and Federal Hall will become "DOWNTOWN by Philippe Starck".

The impressive conversion of the landmark Equitable Trust Building, the former headquarters of J.P. Morgan & Co., will create a residential presence at the storied intersection of Broad and Wall Streets.

"I am so honored to be a part of this exciting and pivotal development. It is the epicenter of global business and yet the architecture, small shops and restaurants give it the feel of a small village," said Mr. Starck.

DOWNTOWN by Philippe Starck will have extensive fitness facilities including a lap pool, squash court, basketball court, a yoga and pilates studio and weight training room.

The property will also feature a theater/screening room created by celebrated theater designer Theo Kalomirakis and the only private bowling alley in Manhattan.

Another distinguishing aspect of DOWNTOWN by Philippe Starck is its rich variety of landscaped outdoor spaces that have been creatively woven into the building's design.

"We are offering the bold vision of Philippe Starck within the residences as well as in the imaginative, innovative, outdoor gardens and private terraces." said Louise M. Sunshine, CEO of The Sunshine Group, Ltd, the exclusive marketing and sales agent for the property.

"The remarkable 5,000 square foot roof park, for example, embodies his flamboyant and evocative style. Mr. Starck skilfully plays with scale and juxtaposes artifice and nature to create an enchanting wonderland in the heart of the financial district.

YOO is a conceptual design and development firm created by John Hitchcox and Philippe Starck in 1999 to create unique living environments in destination cities around the world.
