BOMA elects new international chairman. International.

Steven W. Ford, a longtime executive at Cushman & Wakefield, has been named chairman and chief-elected officer of the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) International.

Mr. Ford was elected to the volunteer position at The North American Commercial Real Estate Congress and The Office Building Show, held June 26-29 in Toronto, Canada.

Mr. Ford, a BOMA member since 1987, served as chairman-elect before moving up to his current post. He is also a member of the Executive Committee and the National Advisory Council, as well as a Board of Directors member of the BOMA/New York association, where he previously served as president.

As senior managing director of Cushman & Wakefield's Facilities Management Group, Mr. Ford is responsible for overseeing C&W's management of owner occupied properties totaling in excess of 100 million square feet in the United States.

His group provides traditional property and project management services as well as office support services including mailroom and reprographic management, shipping and receiving, document storage and other ancillary services. He is part of the firm's Asset Services Group, which manages 360 million square feet around the world.

Mr. Ford joined Asset Services in 1976. Mr. Ford has held various positions in Asset Services throughout his 25-year tenure with C&W. Prior to being responsible for Facilities Management, Mr. Ford served as regional director for the Eastern Region.

In addition to his Facilities Management responsibilities, Mr. Ford is a mentor to the Asset Services Group in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Washington D.C. He is also involved in the e-commerce initiatives of Asset Services including web-based applications for procurement, lease administration, work order management, preventative maintenance, space management and project management.

Mr. Ford serves in a supervisory and/or advisory capacity for the services provided to Prudential Services Company, Lucent Technologies and Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. He is a graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University where he obtained his Bachelor of Science and Master of Business Administration.
