New 'active adult' residence opening in Rye Brook
Real Estate Weekly, July 31, 2002
The comfort and vitality of a traditional hometown are combined with the luxury amenities of a resort at Stone Gate at BelleFair, a new active adults residence opening in Rye Brook.
County and village officials gathered here June 26 with representatives of Sterling Glen Communities, the developer of Stone Gate at BelleFair, to celebrate the start of construction of the new complex, which is located within the BelleFair at Rye Brook planned residential community on King Street, the only active adult community in Lower Westchester County.
"We are delighted to celebrate the start of construction of our newest active adult residence and our first in Westchester County. As with all our communities, our goal at Stone Gate is to provide residents with the very best quality of life; a residence that not only offers a wonderful pace to live, but also a custom service package to meet both our residents' practical desires, such as maintenance-free living, but also their social and cultural pursuits, such as golf or the opera," said Michael Daly, president of Sterling Glen Communities.
"We're particularly pleased to be an integral part of BelleFair at Rye Brook, one of the most successful and innovative residential communities in the region. The synergy between BelleFair and Stone Gate will create a truly unique multigenerational community," he added.
Joining Daly in a ceremony to mark the pouring of cement for the first foundations of the project were Westchester County Executive Andrew Spano, Rye Brook Mayor Francis Filipowski and Mitchell Hochberg, president of Spectrum Skanska, the developer of the BelleFair residential community.
The construction of Stone Gate at BelleFair marks the completion of BelleFair at Rye Brook, a unique multigenerational community of 250 single-family homes developed by Spectrum Skanska Inc. of Valhalla, NY. The only community of its kind in the Northeast, BelleFair at Rye Brook incorporates many of the ideas of "new urbanism," an innovative planning concept that places the focus on people, not cars, and provides a wide range of housing for people of all generations.
Stone Gate at BelleFair features 166 one- and two-bedroom apartments in an old Greenwich style four-level building. Each apartment includes a modem kitchen with full appliances, washer and dryer, wall-to-wall carpeting and spacious baths. The apartments range in size from 650 to 1,200 square feet of space. Services include weekly housekeeping and flat linen service, transportation to local shopping and medical appointments, and recreational activities and programs. Meal packages are also available. Construction is expected to take approximately 18 months with the first residents scheduled to move in late 2004. The rental office, which will be located at 1104 King Street, can be reached at (877) 378-4020. Or visit the website at www.Sterling-Glen.com.
Residents of Stone Gate at BelleFair will enjoy a wide array of resort-style amenities including an elegant full-service restaurant, cocktail lounge and bistro, hair salon/barber shop, fitness room and spa, movie theater and a state-of-the-art emergency response system connected to 24-hour on-site staff. Residents will also have access to the recreational facilities available at BelleFair's 18,000-SF Meeting House. These include a fitness center, indoor/outdoor pools, library and computer center, the Village Green and the Corner Stone Market featuring a bakery with fresh baked goods and a deli offering gourmet delicacies, fresh produce, salads and specialty coffees. Residents will be able to join the nearby Doral Arrow wood Golf Club where reduced green fees and club amenities are available.
Stone Gate at BelleFair is conveniently located to major highways including I-684, Merritt Parkway, Hutchinson River Parkway and I-287. Metro-North commuter train service is available at the Rye train station, which is 45 minutes from Manhattan.
For cultural activities, The Performing Arts Center at SUNY Purchase and the renowned PepsiCo sculpture garden are less than a mile away.
