Half Moon Harbour making its debut in North Bergen, N.J

Real Estate Weekly, Sept 5, 2001

"Too good to be true," was Russ Perrine's initial impression of Half Moon Harbour, a luxurious waterfront apartment complex located on the Hudson River in North Bergen, New Jersey. Perrine visited the new upscale community on the advice of a friend who supplies materials to the building's developer, Barrett Companies of Fort Lee. Barrett is currently welcoming the first renters and adding finishing touches to the elegant 12-story, 176-unit stone structure at 7911 River Road.

Perrine, a salesperson for WCBS Radio, first considered a move to the Hudson River waterfront last summer during long, hot commutes from his Princeton townhome to his station's New York headquarters. He also teaches part-time at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck.

His wife, Delmis, has also greatly simplified her commute while changing jobs. Rather than driving from Princeton to Red Bank every day, she takes the nearby New York Waterway Ferry, which sails from Port Imperial to Midtown Manhattan every 10 minutes, to her new job at an import/export company on 35th Street via the shuttle service, that leaves to the ferry every 20 minutes, right from the front door of Half Moon Harbour.

The Perrines' third-floor corner apartment also faces north, providing them with a gorgeous vista from the eight windows in their great room area, a view that encompasses the majestic Hudson River near-the Boat Basin, lush green grass and trees, and Frank Lloyd Wright's Riverside Church. "The scene is reminiscent of a European city like Heidelberg or Basel, Switzerland," said Perrine proudly.

For Perrine, who often works from home, telecommuting has never been easier, thanks to a high-tech wiring infrastructure. To accommodate ever increasing technology demands, the building is equipped with a fiber backbone, T1 lines, category 5E wiring, Bell Atlantic video and cable wiring. Perrine easily converted his apartment's second bedroom into a home office.

While corner units are leasing quickly, prospective renters can still choose from 15 distinct floor plans, ranging from 740 to 1,536 SF, in prime locations.

Rental rates start at $1,700. To take advantage of pre-Grand Opening pricing this summer, contact Lennard Schwartz, owner/broker of SMART REALTY, the project's exclusive broker,
