Bank of America Commits to 150,000 sq. ft. at 40 West 57th Street
The Lefrak Organization leased 152,000 square feet to Bank of America at 40 West 57th Street, the firm's "flagship" office property in Midtown Manhattan. Lefrak said the transaction represents the largest lease for contiguous space signed in midtown Manhattan so far this year. The bank eased the top seven floors of the 34-story building with occupancy planned for March 2003. The 728,000-square-foot office tower was built by Lefiak in 1972. It is currently undergoing a major renovation designed by Kohn, Pedersen and Fox. Improvements include new elevators, a new HVAC system, additional cooling and electrical capacity, re-cladding of the building's facade, and total makeover of the building's lobby and public arcade. Bank of America will join current tenants ICM, Givaudan Fragrances, Marlborough Gallery, Nautica, and Infinity Broadcasting in the building. Howard Fiddle of Insignia/ESG represented The Lefrak Organization in the lease transaction. Bank of America was represented by Jones Lang Lasalle.
