KSS/Greenberg complete Princeton renovations
Real Estate Weekly, Sept 13, 2006
KSS Architects, in conjunction with Allan Greenberg, Architect, LLC, announced the completion of renovations to Aaron Burr Hall at Princeton University.
Situated on the corner of Nassau Street and Washington Road in the heart of Princeton, the Aaron Burr Hall project restored and renovated the existing 28,000-s/f structure, while adding 10,500 s/ f of additional classroom and office space.
Aaron Burr Hall now houses an 80-person tiered classroom, faculty offices, several seminar rooms, and suites for three academic departments along with other amenities.
"Prior to the renovation, Aaron Burr Hall was known as a bland and aesthetically unappealing academic building," says David Zaiser, partner at KSS. "The foursquare brick structure was even discussed as a possible candidate for demolition. But this renovation saved the historic structure, which was designed by the United States' first classically trained architect, Richard Morris Hunt, who also designed the Metropolitan Museum in New York. The combination of the new and old architecture is seamless but also appealing."
"We are thrilled to have completed this extensive renovation project, which has restored a historic Princeton University building to today's standards," says Allan Kehrt, partner at KSS.
The project was recently honored by The Historical Society of Princeton with its Historic Preservation Award for restoring and preserving one of Princeton's unique buildings.
