Domain Home Fashions celebrates third Manhattan store
Real Estate Weekly, Sept 12, 2001
Start spreading the news! On Sept. 6, Domain Home Fashions will celebrate the opening of its third Manhattan store and of its newly relocated store in Hartsdale, NY. These exciting events mark the beginning of the company's 20-store expansion and renovation plan in the Northeast.
Domain's newest-Manhattan store occupies the desirable space at 101 West End Avenue at 66th Street, directly beneath competitor Ethan Allen. It's highly successful Hartsdale store has relocated directly across the street to 101 Central Park Avenue. This move allows the retailer to take advantage of 8,000 sq. ft. of recently vacated, newly renovated space, making it the largest of all Domain stores.
Both new locations will host month long grand opening celebrations, featuring fabulous giveaways, special savings for its customers, and an expanded assortment of exclusive collections.!
"There is an incredible desire in these markets for the kind of affordably priced, European-inspired home furnishings that only Domain offers," stated Jim McCullagh, Domain president and COO." To satisfy this, we've dedicated three years to planning and building the infrastructure necessary to support such an effort, including a new warehouse in Edison," he added.
"By branching out into existing markets where Domain is already successful, we believe we can capture more market share and do so without unexpected operational difficulties."
Indeed, Domain has always been about exclusive home furnishings presented in fully accessorized settings to inspire the creativity of its upscale customers. And this proven formula for success isn't about to change.
What is changing, however, is the architectural design of all new stores and those being remodeled.
"The ultimate goal for the in-store environment of Domain is a look and ambience consistent with the classic design and feel of our furnishings," said founder and CEO, Judy George. "That means a warm, welcoming and more traditional palette of neutrals and greens. We've added crown moldings, soft lighting, and other distinctive details to create visual interest and variety that will help our customers picture how their favorite Domain furniture will look in their own homes."
To go with Domain's new look is a spectacular new collection of English and French-influenced furnishings specially selected for these terrific grand opening celebrations. Roll-top and antique writing desks, mahogany bookcases, hand painted chests, and glazed pottery bistro tables are just some of the unique items customers will discover in Domain's fully accessorized room settings.
