HomeGoods to open SI store
Real Estate Weekly, Sept 11, 2002
HomeGoods, a division of the TJX Cos., has signed a 10-year lease for a new 30,600-SF store on Staten Island. HomeGoods' new location, its third in the New York metropolitan area, will be located at the Tysens Park Shopping Center on Hylan Boulevard in the New Dorp section of Staten Island, according to David Rosenberg, executive vice president at Robert K. Futterman & Associates (RKF), who represented both the tenant and the landlord in the transaction.
HomeGoods is a 71-store national discount retail chain that features a wide variety of merchandise including home furnishings, furniture, housewares, bed and bath accessories and gourmet foods.
"The HomeGoods discount concept has proven to be highly-successful," said Rosenberg. "Staten Island, which is already home to other TJX divisions, including T.J. Maxx and Marshalls, will provide an ideal location for this unique off-price retailer." Neighboring retailers in the 176,000-SF Tysens Park Shopping Center include RadioShack, KB Toys and Office Max. HomeGoods is expected to open in the fall of 2002.
