Real Estate Weekly, June 30, 2004
Gregg Rechler, a Long Island business executive, has been appointed to the board of trustees for The Nature Conservancy's Long Island Chapter. Mr. Rechler is a partner of R Squared LLC, based in Melville, N.Y.
In announcing Mr. Rechler's appointment, Paul Rabinovitch, the Chapter's executive director, called him a "dedicated environmentalist and one of Long Island's most dynamic and influential business leaders."
"We are delighted that Mr. Rechler has agreed to join the Conservancy's board of trustees," he went on. "Long Island continues to face many environmental and growth challenges as we move into this new century. The Nature Conservancy's work in preserving Long Island's lands and waters is more vital now than ever before."
Donald M. Eversoll, chairman of the board for the Long Island Chapter of the Nature Conservancy, praised Mr. Rechler's appointment to the board.
"With strong and dynamic business leaders such as Gregg Rechler working with us and providing valuable insight and guidance, I know that the Conservancy and all Long Islanders will benefit greatly. Gregg's real estate expertise is invaluable to us as we work to preserve and protect our ecologically diverse and fragile lands and waterways. We are very pleased that he will be lending his talents, knowledge and dedication to the Nature Conservancy's vital work on Long Island."
Gregg Rechler has been associated with the organization for several years. In June of 2003, he was honored by The Nature Conservancy's Long Island Chapter for his support of the environment at its 50th anniversary celebration.
Commenting on his appointment, Mr. Rechler said, "I am honored to join the Conservancy's board of trustees and I look forward to working closely with my colleagues and the staff of The Nature Conservancy to ensure that as communities here on Long Island grow and develop, the Conservancy is there to ensure that the places that we all grew up with--the beaches, estuaries and woodlands--remain intact and productive."
A strong supporter of the communities in which R Squared LLC does business, Mr. Rechler is a tireless advocate for Long Islanders. In addition to his support for The Nature Conservancy, he also serves on numerous civic committees. He is a member of the board of directors of the Regional Plan Association and a member of the board of governors of the Real Estate Board of New York. Mr. Rechler has also served on the Long Island Children's Museum, the Mount Sinai Children's Center Foundation and the Cradle of Aviation Museum.
