AREW raises $80,000

Real Estate Weekly, Sept 18, 2002

The AREW Charitable Fund, the not-for-profit charitable and community outreach arm of the Association of Real Estate Women, raised $80,000 on behalf of Women In Need, Inc. The six-month fundraising effort culminated in a breakfast featuring Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Anna Quindlen at the New York Hilton Hotel.

In addition to a dynamic address by Quindlen, Bonnie Stone, president and chief executive officer of WIN, addressed the audience. She, in turn, introduced Anne Cross, a WIN client who conveyed her personal experience with WIN's caring, skills, incentive and opportunity to turn around troubled lives.

According to AREW Charitable Fund co-chairs Marie-Claire Cunningham, who works as a director of corporate services at GVA Williams, and real estate consultant Caroline Salvino, the corporate real estate community, the real estate media, and individual professionals were generous in their support of WIN's programs, which address the leading causes of homelessness. Platinum sponsors of the event included the Association of Real Estate Women, Caran Properties, Commerce Bank, and HJ Kalikow & Co. LLC. There were also numerous gold, silver, bronze, and friend-level sponsors, as well as in-kind donations of professional services, products, and advertising space.
