Soho welcomes De Vera jewelers

Real Estate Weekly, Oct 1, 2003

A San Francisco designer-jeweler will open its first store outside that city in the Soho district of Manhattan, reports Christopher Owles, managing director of Sinvin Realty Corp., who arranged the transaction.

De Vera, a designer and jeweler with two stores in the popular Union Square shopping district of San Francisco, has signed a long-term lease for approximately 4,000 SF at 28 Howard St., at the corner of Crosby, said Owles.

The aggregate value of the lease, including options, is approximately $1 million.

De Vera will be nearby such prominent Soho retailers as Ted Muehling, Vespa and BDDW.

The jeweler's regular clients include Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, actress Gillian Anderson, photographer Bruce Weber and novelist Danielle Steel.

Founded in 1991 by Federico De Vera, the stores are known for their diverse collection of artifacts from around the world, featuring de Vera's own unique designs in furniture and jewelry. This includes vintage Italian glass, Japanese lacquerware, Victorian jewelry, Tibetan deities and early 20th century decorative arts.
