Star florist changes venues

Real Estate Weekly, Oct 13, 2004

Adams & Co. Real Estate recently brokered a 2,173 s/f deal for Atlas Floral Decorators at 200 W. 57th St. in New York City. The renowned upscale florist recently left the Plaza Hotel after 50 years at the location.

Atlas Floral Decorators, founded in 1945, has served as house florist and decorator for The Plaza, the Pierre and the New York Marriott Marquis. The store delivered flowers to the Beatles in the 1960s when the group stayed at the hotel and has served as florist for special events, including the weddings of Donald Trump, Barbara Waiters, Eartha Kitt and Princess Yasmine Khan and for parties hosted by Ivana Trump, Shearson Lehman/American Express and Canon, U.S.A.

Jonathan Fein and Jeffrey Schwartz, of Adams & Co. Real Estate, represented the tenant in the transaction. Mark Todes, of the Trump Group, represented the landlord. The newly constructed space will be used for showroom and general office space.

The 15-story, 120,785 s/f 200 W. 57th St, building is situated across from Carnegie Hall, in a fashionable section of Manhattan's West Side. Other tenants at the property include Preferred Hotels, the American Tax Institute and Trattoria Dell'arte Restaurant.

"After 50 years at the Plaza, Atlas needed a comparable upscale location," Fein said. "The neighborhood is an ideal location to serve the needs of their clientele."
