Divided floor leased at 16 East 34th St - New York, New York

Scotch Maid, Inc., a leading manufacturer of ladies active wear, has leased 10,000 square feet of office space at 16 East 34th Street in Manhattan - a transaction marking the first time that the building's new owner, a partnership headed by S L Green Real Estate, has demonstrated its willingness to divide a floor to accommodate a smaller space user.

Since taking over, S L Green has attracted a host of full floor tenants as well as a major retailer - Staples Express - to the building.

The new tenant has leased a portion of the 12th floor at the handsome 21-story office building. The company, which is relocating from the Empire State Building, expects to move into its new facilities in early fall.

Richard Bernstein, associate director of the Edward S. Gordon Company, represented the tenant in the long-term leasing transaction valued at over $2.2 million. Richard Farley,,,s L Green director of Leasing, represented the building.

According to Stephen Green, 16 East 34th Street will continue its policy of dividing floors up to a minimum of 7,000 square feet in order to accommodate the broadest range of quality users. The 330,000 square foot tower offers full floors ranging from 13,900 to 17,000 square feet.
