Westchester bolstered by Japanese companies - Westchester County, New York benefits from expansion of facilities by Japanese companies
Real Estate Weekly, Oct 21, 1992 by Jeffery A. Landers
Japanese corporations have played an important role in bolstering the Westchester market during the past five years, and they continue to do so today.
While some are reporting dire conditions for Westchester and extraordinarily high vacancy rates, the Japanese corporate market is healthy, with many firms continuing to expand their facilities - which often include their regional or U.S. headquarters.
For example, we recently relocated C. Itoh Building Products within Westchester to a new 7,000-square-foot office facility which represented a 30 percent increase in space. Marubeni Specialty Chemicals, which we relocated to White Plains from Manhattan last year, recently expanded again. We currently exclusively represent a major Japanese corporation in Westchester that is also expanding and will shortly make a decision on where to locate certain divisions. Additionally, we represent a major Japanese company in the Southeast that is seriously thinking of relocating its headquarters to Westchester county.
