Real Estate Weekly, Feb 24, 1993

Helmsley-Spear, Inc. has been named to represent the owners in the sale of 9 South William Street, an architeemrally distinct, gothic-style building located in the heart of the Financial District. Asking price for the property is $2 million. Mara R. Spiegel, vice president, and David L. Waldman of Helmsley-Spear have been named exclusive sales agents.

9 South William Street, also known as 59 Stone Street, was completed in 1929 on the advent of the depression. This seven-story, 26,000 square-foot limestone building originally served as ancillary office space for Lehman Brothers of Wall Street.

Located at the junction of three streets, the building's windows face onto Mill Lane, Stone Street and South William Street. 9 South William Street was sold at auction in 1986 for $5 million. At that time, there were great expectations for the properry's future.
