Brooklyn Navy Yard announces new tenants, lease renewals

Some 185 jobs will be created and retained as a result of businesses expanding in or relocating to the Brooklyn Navy Yard, it was announced Development Corporation (BNYDC).
The announcement comes as 16 firms, including eight businesses that are new to the Yard, have made commitments for space at the Yard.
The firms will lease spaces that range in size from as little as 550 square feet to over 8,000 square feet. In addition to the eight firms that are locating to the Yard for the first time, seven current Yard tenants are expanding the space they now occupy, and one is extending its lease commitment.
New tenants are:
* Alkaneer Mechanical Corporation -- a heating and air conditioning sales and service company, will establish its operation in a 1,400 square feet of space. The firm employs five people
* Brooklyn 11205 Art -- a start-up computer graphics art company, will lease 558 square feet for its three-person venture
* Dust Collectors -- an antique furniture company, will establish its three employee operation into a 668 square-foot loft
* Evan's Sheet Metal -- a metal fabrication company, will relocate its fourperson operation from upstate New York to nearly 1,300 square feet of space
* G & N Construction -- a woodworking and construction company, will lease almost 1,300 square feet of space
* Oceanarimn, Inc. -- a start-up manufacturer of commercial fish tanks, will locate its two employees to approximately 1,100 square feet
* Philip Fordyce Construction, Inc. -- a construction firm, will lease 668 square feet of space to establish its business and house its three-person operation
Expanding tenants are:
* Ares Printing-- a printing and packaging firm, will lease an additional 8,000 square feet of space, marking the firm's second expansion at the Yard since 1981
* Inheritance Antiques -- a furniture refinisher, will expand into 4,850 square feet of additional space
* Mars Electronics of New York, Inc. an electronics distributor, will double the size of its operation by occupying a 611 square-foot loft
* Ramon Reupholstery -- a fine furniture upholstery firm, will increase the amount of space it occupies to a total of 4,000 square feet, marking the firm's second expansion since 1991
* Reliable Cleaning Corp. -- a building maintenance and cleaning contractor, will expand into an additional 783 square feet of space
* Scott Jordan Furniture -- a manufacturer of fine furniture, will more than double its space by occupying a total of 3,100 square feet of space
* Watson Services, Inc. -- a food services firm, is undergoing its third expansion, and will occupy an additional 700 square feet of space
Lease renewals include: Dalton Suknets -- a designer and manufacturer of custom wood furniture, will extend its lease for 8,000 square feet of space for an additional five year period, with a single five-year option thereafter
