Manager named for The Sutton

Claes Y. Loven has been appointed general manager of The Sutton, an elegant- boutique hotel at 330 East 56th Street in New York City, which offers long-term leases with a 3--day minimum occupancy to an international audience of primarily business executives.

Loven was formerly general manager of Bristol Plaza in New York, where he supervised the opening of 170 luxury furnished apartments. His extensive experience in international marketing includes position as Director of Sales and Marketing at Ramada International, Inc., where he has sold reservations for over 100 Ramada Hotels/Renaissance worldwide, and the Barbizon Plaza Hotel in New York.

Previously, he worked for the Swedish Trade Commissioner in Brussels where he researched the Belgian market for Swedish export companies. He also was Promotion Director for the French Chamber of Commerce in Stockholm, where he promoted France to Swedish companies.

Loven, a graduate of Stockholm University with a degree in marketing and economics, also studied at Kristineberg Hotel School in Stockholm and Ecole Hotelicrc in Lausanne, Switzerland. He is fluent in French, English, German, Swedish, Norwegian, and Danish.
