Works by international, national and local artists will hail the opening of an art gallery in New Jersey with a new twist. The Woodcrest Art Gallery, in Lambertville, New Jersey, actually has been established as part of a new residential community.
Woodcrest at Lambertville, which hosts the gallery, is a community of 88 three-bedroom homes which have been constructed and target marketed to those seeking residences within the New Hope, Pennsylvania/Lambertville, New Jersey, area. According to Mark Hodges, director of sales and marketing for the developer Scarborough Corporation of Marlton, New Jersey, the idea for the gallery came directly from the interests and demands within the real estate market.
The Scarborough Corporation is a division of the Tacoma, Washington-based Weyerhaeuser Company, a Fortune 100 company. Within the past 45 years, the firm has developed more than 50 residential communities (16,000 homes) throughout New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Washington, D.C. Currently, the company has developments underway in eight other municipalities in New Jersey and one in Delaware, however, Woodcrest is the first and only community to feature an art gallery.
Local officials and artists will open the Woodcrest Art Gallery on Thursday, Aug. 15, with a public opening planned for Saturday, Aug. 17. To date, the works of six artists are scheduled for display, including those by Sicilian-born Salvatore Adamo Scalisi, Michigan native Ron Schmidt, and local artist Mike Block. Works by area artists James Redding, Susan Weiss and Doug Saldutti will also be presented for the new opening.
