Real Estate Weekly, April 21, 1993
The National Council on Seniors Housing of the National Association of Home Builders has presented its Second Annual Gold Seal Award to the Chung Pak/Everlasting Pines Housing Project in Chinatown, New York, for mixed use building for the year 1993.
The project, which was developed by the Chinese American Planning Council, was built by Kreisler Borg Florman General Construction Company of Scarsdale, New York. Architects were the Edelman Partnership and Anschuetz Christidis and Luaster.
In making the award, the Council wrote the following: "A group of nonprofit organizations successfully integrating a community health care center, a child day care center, commercial and retail space, with affordable senior apartments in a project which responds to a variety of complex challenges in a densely-populated urban setting."
The project was the second job built for the Chinese American Planning Council by the construction design team of Kreisler Borg Florman and The Edelman Partnership. The first project, Hong Ning Housing was completed in 1982.
The Chung PaktEverlasting Pines mixed-use project, in addition to containing 100 apartments, contains three floors of commercial space consisting of a street level retail space plus a second floor devoted to a health clinic for the chinese community, and a third floor devoted to a day care center.
