New school opens in Queens

Real Estate Weekly, May 19, 1993

Flanked by Borough President Claire Shulman, Congressman Thomas Manton, State Senator Leonard Stavisky, Assemblymember Jeffrey Aubry, Councilmember Helen Marshall, Board of Education officials and participating children, Public School 92, the first new school to be built in District 30 (Corona/East Elmhurst) since 1953 was officially opened in March.

The brand new 600-student school designed by Architects Gruzen Samton Steinglass as a prototype for the School Construction Authority is a model state of the art school. The facility is comprised of 18 classrooms for pre-kindergarten through fifth grade, a 256-seat auditorium, spacious gymnasium, computer room and playground facilities provide an optimum learning environment. This non-Wicks law project was completed in just over two years by General Contractor Koren-DiResta Construction Company, putting the building on-line in less than 60 percent of the time necessary for multiple prime Wicks law school work.
