Lehrer McGovern selected for new medical facility

Real Estate Weekly, May 26, 1993

Lehrer McGovern Bovis, Inc. (LMB) has been selected by the Camden County Health Services Center to provide program management services for the construction of a $30 million hospital and health care facility in Blackwood, New Jersey.

The new two-story facility, which will consist of 215,000 square feet of space, is being designed to completely replace the existing facility. Built on the center's grounds on a 25-acre site in Blackwood, the facility will house 290 long term care patients in five units and 150 psychiatric care patients accommodated in six units, including isolation units. It will also include central administrative and support functions. As part of the center's outreach program, a "halfway house" will have capacity for eight residents.

A major construction challenge is the need to construct both the two story wings simultaneously to obtain dry-in of the building to permit finish trades to work during the winter of 1994-95.

Construction is scheduled to begin during the fall of 1993. Completion is scheduled for December 1995. The architect and engineer for the project is the Vitetta Group of Philadelphia.
