Kids chain hires consultant

Real Estate Weekly, July 21, 1993

Haim Chera, vice president of Young World, the largest privately-held children's clothing store chain in the Northeast, recently announced plans for some major moves for his company in the coming years. The new expansion program will focus on the suburbs for new store expansion, but urban and downtown locations will also be an important part of future growth. The Greenberg Group, real estate advisors to the retail industry has been named exclusive agents for Young World and will head up all real estate responsibilities.

Young World was founded by Isaac Chera in downtown Brooklyn in 1948. Today, Isaac Sr. and Stanley serve as chairmen and Isaac, Haim and Richard Ches are vice presidents of the family--run company. With 750 employees at 18 downtown and urban locations in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, Young World outfits children from newborn through size 16 in a wide variety of moderate priced, brand name merchandise. This new expansion program will enable the chain to bring the great mix of merchandise to a new generation of Young World customers.

As a result of their success in Staten Island, Young World intends to apply its very successful format to markets that meet the company's demographic requirements. Technical proficiency combined with state-of-the-art computer-aided data and sophisticated electronic systems allows The Greenberg Group to target the most productive trading areas for Young World to pursue.
