Auction to feature East Side apartments - Carlton Property Auctions to auction residences at 333 East 14th Street in New York, New York

Real Estate Weekly, Sept 9, 1992

A limited number of vacant and occupied residences at 333 East 14th Street will be sold at auction, absolute, to the highest bidder, regardless of price.

Carlton Property Auctions is conducting the sale. Suggested opening bids on the vacant units start at only $19,000. Original asking prices for one-bedroom apartments were as high as $200,000.

Built in 1964, 333 East 14th Street is a handsome 18-story cooperative building towering over East Greenwich Village, Lower Manhattan and Midtown. Due to the low-rise zoning restrictions of the neighborhoods to the south, many of the apartments at 333 East 14th Street have spectacular, unobstructed views of Downtown Manhattan, the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center and the East River. Residences facing north witness the sparkling City skyline and the Empire State Building.

A choice selection of studio and one bedroom residences will be up for auction. Some have while all feature new windows and air-conditioning. A garage is located in the building. Within a short walk of 333 East 14th Street is Stuyvesant Square Park, newly renovated Union Square Park with its famous Open Air Greenmarket, as well as dozens of excellent shops and supermarkets.

Directly across the street from 333 East 14th Street is the YM-YWHA with a complete health club and swimming pool. On the corner is the "L" Cross-town subway which connects with every major transit line. The neighborhood is also known for its major schools and hospitals which include both Beth Israel and Cabrini Medical Centers.

The occupied residences at 333 East 14th Street may represent an excellent investment opportunity. Bidding for these occupied residences will start at just $2,500. The building also offers the added financial benefit of a 70 percent tax deduction on its monthly maintenance charges.

The auction date is Thursday, Sept. 17 at 7:00 p.m. It is recommended that registrants visit the apartments at least three days before the auction. The 333 East 14th Street Auction Information Center is open for apartment inspection daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and from noon to 8 p.m. on Thursdays.
