Loews to build 12-screen theater

Loews Theatres, a Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) company, has begun construction of the new 12-screen Loews East Hanover Theatre, located in East Hanover, New Jersey, it was announced by Loews Chairmen Jim and Barrie Loeks.

Scheduled to open in time for the 1993 holiday season, the East Hanover Theatre is designed around the new Loews Theatres customer service program, with an open managers kiosk in the lobby, six indoor computerized box office stations and a huge concession stand equipped with 11 service stations, ensuring that all customers receive "next in line" service. Video monitors in the lobby will run feature film previews.

The 52,000-square-foot theatre will have more than 3,100 rocking chair seats with cupholder armrests. Two of the auditoriums will be equipped with state-of-the art THX sound, four will feature Dolby Stereo, and six auditoriums will feature Ultra Stereo.
