AMR Research - AMR Research Inc. reports on BroadVision Inc - Brief Article

Bobbin, Oct, 2000

AMR Research reports that the e-commerce technology business has become more interesting following the introduction of a new buy-side and marketplace application package from sell-side application vendor BroadVision. The Redwood City, CA-based company's products -- BroadVision MarketMaker and BroadVision Procurement -- will now expand their reach into both sides of the business-to-business (B2B) market.

BroadVision, which already has approximately 920 customers that use its sell-side applications, is attempting to develop an integration platform that many e-commerce vendors have explored, but only with mixed success. Although BroadVision hopes to change this track record, AMR states that it's too early to say whether the company will be successful.

Regardless of the outcome, AMR says that the move puts BroadVision head to head with powerhouses Commerce One (based in Walnut Creek, CA), Ariba (based in Mountain View, CA), ATG (based in Cambridge, MA) and Vignette (based in Austin, TX). These competitors have huge market caps, strong technology and solid financial results, which AMR notes will make for a very interesting race for the top spot.
