Coats Viyella, an international thread manufacturer, has acquired Hicking Pentecost and its Barbour Thread division. According to Steven F. Baune, chief executive of Coats North American, the combination of Barbour, best known for its filament threads and bonding technology, and Coats, recognized in the apparel industry for its core threads, will benefit both companies from a strategic and competitive standpoint.
Barbour's operations will be integrated with Coats' North American businesses, and will use the Coats name.
