AMMA's Quick Response Leadership Committee Renamed - Brief Article

Bobbin, Feb, 2000

The Quick Response Leadership Committee of the American Apparel Manufacturers Association (AAMA) has been renamed the Supply Chain Leadership Committee (SCLC) to better reflect its mission and direction.

"The apparel industry is highly focused on developing an efficient and profitable supply chain complex," said John Berry, SCLC chairman and director of forecasting, planning and inventory management for Russell Corp. "Our goal within the Supply Chain Leadership Committee is to help industry achieve that vision -- through identifying and interpreting the leading edge best practices and through providing broad-based education about supply chain execution, including collaborative business practices and supporting integration technologies."

Among the committee's current projects are a white paper on "Uses of the Internet for the Apparel Industry" and the research of supply chain initiatives via a newly formed task group. The research findings, along with an index of supply chain definitions, associations, suggested reading, Web sites, contacts, etc., will be published within the year. Additionally, Berry said that future meetings of the SCLC will feature guest speakers and presentations on innovative supply chain solutions.

The SCLC meets twice a year and includes members from both the sewn products manufacturing and supplier industries. The committee's next meeting is April 26-30 in Squaw Valley, CA, and is open to anyone interested in attending.
