IACDE Announces New Executive Director

David M. Schmida has assumed the post of executive director for the International Association of Clothing Designers and Executives (IACDE). For the past 25 years, Schmida has been an active member of the IACDE Industrial Chapter and served as its president from 1986 through 1988.

Schmida, who began his career in the sewn products industry as a consultant with Kurt Salmon Associates, has extensive industry experience including serving in executive positions with Laini[grave{e}]re de Picardie Inc., Freudenberg Nonwovens Limited Partnership and Crown Texile. He also has served on the Apparel Research Committee of the American Apparel Manufacturers Association and as an associate member of the Clothing Manufacturers Association of the United States of America.

Commenting on his objectives as executive director, Schmida said: "My initial focus will be in involving all the membership in the growth of the association. We need to expand into all of the links in the apparel/textile supply chain throughout the world. We have a great wealth of talent within the organization, and I look forward to working with my associates in accomplishing this goal."
