Model programs provide staffing guidance - News Notes - Database is from Institute for the Future of Aging Services and the Paraprofessional Healthcare Institute - Brief Article

Nursing Homes, Feb, 2003 by Douglas J. Edwards

A database of model programs is one of the latest efforts by the Institute for the Future of Aging Services and the Paraprofessional Healthcare Institute to help facilities address their critical worker shortages. The Practice Profile Database, funded by the Department of Health and Human Services, includes information on organizations' recruitment, career advancement, and entry-level and management-level training practices. Each listing has a description of the project's implementation, as well as contact information. To be included in the database, projects had to provide quantitative or qualitative evidence of their results in areas such as worker satisfaction, successful completion of training programs, employee-resident relations, and money spent on temporary workers (i.e., the lower, the better).

The database can be accessed at www.directcareclearinghouse.org/practices. To have a practice considered for the database, contact Vera Salter at (718) 402-4138 or vera@paraprofessional.org.
