AHCA's Roadman to step down in October

Nursing Homes, Feb, 2004 by Douglas J. Edwards

American Health Care Association (AHCA) President and CEO Charles H. Roadman II, MD, CNA, has decided not to extend his tenure at AHCA beyond October 2004. Having come to AHCA after nearly 30 years in the U.S. Air Force, Dr. Roadman said of his five-year term, "I believe this is about the correct length of time for a senior executive to serve and to lead," and that he made his announcement in January to allow for an ample transition period. Dr. Roadman doesn't plan to slow down during his last months at AHCA, however: "My resolve to continue the march tip until the last step has never been stronger, and I look forward to another productive, positive year. When the day nears for turning over the 'con' [control], as we used to say in the Air Force, I'll have more to say about all that we've done together."

"I know that I speak for our entire association when I say that Chip has brought to us style, substance, integrity, and constancy of purpose that we shall never forget--and that has placed us on a footing that will successfully carry us forward," commented Steven E. Chies, AHCA chair and senior vice-president of Benedictine Health System in Minnesota.

Dr. Roadman plans to move to San Antonio to be closer to family after he leaves AHCA.
