CMS supports PACE expansion

Nursing Homes, May, 2004 by Douglas J. Edwards

Eight states have been selected to participate in CMS-funded market assessment studies for Programs of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE), the National PACE Association (NPA) has announced. Only states without current PACE programs could apply (17 states currently have programs). The states selected for assessment by NPA-member technical assistance organizations are:

Iowa

Kentucky

Minnesota

New Jersey

Oklahoma

Utah

Virginia

West Virginia

CMS explains its support of the market assessment project by noting that PACE advances the agency's goal of finding non-institutional alternatives for seniors who are SNF-qualified but can still be cared for in the community.
